On August 3 and 4, 2017, during the 93rd session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), the report of the Russian Federation will be considered.

ADC Memorial, Crimea SOS and SOVA Center in collaboration with International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) have submitted an alternative report (see press-release).

The SOVA Center’s contribution generally addressed issues of hate crimes and the Russian anti-extremist law enforcement.

The Russian Federation’s report, as well as all the alternative reports by NGOs and other documents, is available on the 93rd CERD Session’s webpage.

The alternative report, prepared with participation of SOVA Center, contained recommendations for Russian authorities to stop discrimination of ethnic minorities and repression against civil society and to amend the inconsistent anti-extremist laws and related law enforcement practices violating freedom of expression.
